Heading Title 1

Identifying areas for improvement

Phil is concerned about the sandbagging solution that Dorothy talked about in their discussion. This doesn’t sound like a very good system to him. He decides to do a bit of research into how other plants handle this kind of situation.

Phil comes across the idea of an automatic diversion system. This sounds like a better idea. Some systems divert the waste automatically when changes are recorded in the pH or when certain materials are detected in the waste. Others operate manually, with a switch to divert the waste.

What would be the best step for Phil to take next?

Tell Dorothy he thinks a diversion system could be a good idea for FTP Foods.

Phone the local newspaper and tell them about the possibility of an environmental disaster at the plant.

Do nothing, it's someone elses problem.

Do more research and with Dorothy's and his supervisors approval request to make a presentation to the companies management.

Feedback:

It would be a good idea to let Dorothy know about this idea.

This would be inappropriate. Phil needs to focus on helping to put a better system in place.

If Phil can make suggestions about better ways of doing things, he should.

This is a good idea and could lead to a real improvement for the company.
