Heading Title 1

Taking corrective action

Dorothy explains to Phil that an important part of dealing with a hazard is to set priorities and decide what actions need to be taken first.

Personal safety should always be the number one priority. For example, if a machine was giving off toxic fumes that were about to contaminate a batch of ice-cream in a mixing tank, the first priority would NOT be to save the batch of ice-cream, but to follow emergency procedures and evacuate all workers from the area to ensure their safety.

In the case of an environmental hazard what actions should be taken?
