Beginning to plan

Please make sure you’ve had a look through the Administration records mentioned in Plan a conference.

Take particular notice of the timeline and the minutes to see the discussion and the decisions that were made during the planning process for last year's conference.

Give some thought to where you should start planning and how you might prioritise the many tasks that will need to be performed to organise a successful conference, as your task for this section.

Write a couple of paragraphs about what you might do next.

Post your work to the ValleyView Meeting room, using the heading Conference planning. Compare how others are approaching the task.

Read a memo from the General Manager (available below in PDF and RTF formats).

Look at the websites listed in the ValleyView Library or use an Internet search engine to help you find the information you need to respond to Angus. Prepare a table listing the advantages and disadvantages of telephone and videoconferencing for the first planning meeting.

Develop and record some recommendations for the type of conference you think would be most appropriate. Give reasons to justify your choice. Post this in the ValleyView Meeting room, using the topic Telephone conferencing.
