Your Training Plan

After negotiation with yourself and your supervisor or employer, your training coordinator will develop your training plan during the first visit to your workplace. This document must be signed by yourself, your supervisor or employer and your training coordinator. It is important that you work within the proposed timeframes. If you are not able to complete your work by the planned finish date please negotiate with your training coordinator.

Workplace visits

Your training coordinator will conduct a minimum of four face to face visits per training year following the induction visit. Each visit must be verified with signatures from yourself and your supervisor.

Monthly Contact

Your training coordinator will make monthly contact by phone or email to monitor your progress.

Withdrawal from routine duties

Trainees undertaking traineeship qualification at Certificate III or above are allowed a minimum of 3 hours per week withdrawal form their normal work duties to undertake structured training and learning activities. This withdrawal time can be averaged over a four week cycle.

In the case of trainees undertaking Certificate II qualifications the structured withdrawal time is 1.5 hours per week averaged over an eight week cycle. Your training coordinator will advise you on how best to record this information.

OnCourse

The OnCourse area will let you access the resources and assessment materials in your course. It will also give you access to your results. Your training coordinator will supply you with your Student ID which you will need to be able to access OnCourse.

Assessment

At least three forms of assessment are required to verify competency, these may include:

  • observation

  • written assessment tasks

  • portfolio of work samples.

Once you have completed the assessment for each unit you can download the associated training log from OnCourse, complete the self assessment and have your supervisor sign and add a comment. This comment is important and is used as further evidence to support your assessment.
