How do I login?
Click on OnCourse on the Student Lounge Page and enter your ID (student number) and password (date of birth) in the login screen.

  • Your student number is issued by Front Office staff on all campuses at enrolment. Your student number is located on your South West TAFE student card. Student numbers are made up of three letters and eight numbers eg. HEN88125894.
     

  • Your password is your date of birth (DOB). If you are born on the 5th of February 1990 enter your DOB as 05021990. Do not put spaces or dashes in the DOB field.

 


What is OnCourse?

OnCourse is South West TAFE’s online student management system.

 


What does OnCourse do for me?
OnCourse enables you to:

  • view your current enrolment status

  • view your results and printout a copy (not official)

  • change personal details (name, address, contact details, etc).

If your teacher is using OnCourse you will also be able to:

  • read notices posted by your teachers

  • download learning and assessment resources for courses/units of study

  • view teacher details (name, email and phone number).

 


What is my student number?

If I don't have a student number where do I get one?
Contact Front Office staff at your nearest campus.

 


I am a trainee or off campus student and don't have a student number/ID card.
Contact your Trainee Coordinator or Off Campus Coordinator.

 


What is my password and how do I enter it?
Your password is your date of birth (DOB). If you are born on the 5th of February 1990 enter your DOB as 05021990. Do not put spaces or dashes in the DOB field.

 


I enrolled today but cannot login to OnCourse?

Enrolment information will appear in OnCourse 24 hours after it has been entered on QLS by student Management.

 


Why don't changes to my enrolment appear on the day they are entered?
Changes to enrolment information will appear in OnCourse 24 hours after they are entered on QLS by your teacher.

 


Why don't results appear on the day my teacher says he/she has inputted them?

Results will appear in OnCourse 24 hours after they have been entered on QLS by your teacher. Results displayed In OnCourse are accurate, but unofficial. An official transcript of results will be mailed to you at the end of the academic year. Remember you can print out your current results from OnCourse.

 


What should I do if the units in OnCourse don't match what I am enrolled in?
Contact your teacher immediately.

 


Can I access OnCourse from home?
Yes. You can access OnCourse remotely via the student Page URL www.swtafe.vic.edu.au/students. Enter your Username and Password as instructed.

 


What is the definition of download?

To download is to copy data (usually an entire file) from a main source to a peripheral device. The term is often used to describe the process of copying a file from an online area to one's own computer. Downloading can also refer to copying a file from a network file server to a computer on the network.

 


How do I download/save?
To download/save a file from OnCourse:

  • Open the required file in OnCourse via the link provided. The doc will open in a new window.

  • Click on the File dropdown menu.

  • Click on Save As.

  • In the Save As box select file destination from the Save In drop down, eg A drive.

  • Rename file if necessary.

  • Click Save button.
     


OnCourse minimum PC requirements?

  • IBM compatible computer with a 300MHz processor

  • 32 Mb of RAM

  • 800 x 600 display

  • Netscape Version 4.5 or Internet Explorer 5 or higher

  • Flash Player 6

  • Shockwave Player 8.5
