Who organises social events?
The South West Institute of TAFE Student Activities Team organise a range of
activities for students. These include sporting events,
competitions, night, lunchtime shows, orientation week, barbecues
and other activities. Contact the Student Activities Officer on your
campus.

How can I communicate with the Institute population?
Personal advertisements can be placed free of charge in the
Missing Link, the student newsletter, or on notice boards around the Institute.
Can I park my bike?
Bicycle racks are available at all campuses.
What about a bookshop?
The bookshop supplies modules, some text books, disks, some stationery and other
course related items for sale to students. In Warrnambool the bookshop is located
in the Library. At Hamilton, Glenormiston, Portland and Sherwood
Park the bookshop
operates through Reception. Films, USB keys, CDs and DVDs are also available.

What if I get hungry?
During term the Warrnambool cafeteria is open from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to
Friday and open nights, Monday to Thursday. Suggestions in relation
to cafe services should be made to the cafe staff or student representatives.
Catering services at Hamilton and Portland campuses are undergoing improvements. Suggestions should be made to the Heads of Campus or to the Student Activities Officer.
Are there disability car parks available?
Hamilton - One park is available outside the main entrance.
Portland - Parks are situated at the rear of the portable classrooms.
Warrnambool - An undercover car park is located next to F Block
building. Fifteen minute loading/unloading zone unless previously
reserved.
Is there help with car pooling?
Students wanting to share rides on a regular basis should contact the
Student Liaison Officer.. Students can place
ads for car sharing in the
Missing Link
in the free classifieds section.
Can I start a club or society?
The Student Activities team may provide funds to assist students to establish clubs and societies.

Is there help exhibiting my art work?
Situated at the Warrnambool campus, the Customs House Gallery would like to hear
from SWTAFE students wishing to exhibit art work of all kinds. Contact
the Gallery Director on 5564 8963.
Is there gay & lesbian information referral?
Switchboard, counselling, referral information, 6pm - 10pm daily, 2pm - 10pm Wednesdays.

Is there a student newsletter?
The Missing Link, the Student Association newsletter is produced
weekly during term times. It welcomes (and pays for) contributions from students in the form of articles, photos, stories, jokes, cartoons and poems.
The Link may also be viewed
online.
Can I park my motorbike?
Parks are available outside F Block at Warrnambool.
Is there parking available?

Are there pay phones?
Pay phones are available at all campuses.
Can I get photocopying done?
Photocopying is available in the Library and outside the Student Association office
at Warrnambool. Ask at the reception in Portland or Hamilton for photocopying
facilities.
Is there a restaurant?
Great food is available at great prices at
Endeavours, the
SWTAFE Institute restaurant at the Warrnambool campus.
Are there snack machines?
These are situated in food areas of all campuses and in the F Block reception area. Suggestions for additional food lines are welcome at the Cafe or
Student Association.
What sporting opportunities are there?
The
Student Activities Team has special arrangements with Deakin University Student Association for
cross campus competitions. Regular competitions with other TAFE Institutes takes place throughout the year. Details will be advertised through the student newsletter,
Missing Link.
Can I help organise student activities?
The
Student Activities Team would like to hear from students interested in being involved in organising student activities.
They can assist with resources such as barbecues, sporting equipment
for student groups to run their own activities which involves the
wider student community.
How do I join the Student Association?
All enrolled students, unless they choose otherwise, are members of the
Association. This gives them the right to:
- vote for student representatives and in Association meetings
- become a student representative and make decisions about the activities of the Association
- use Association facilities
- attend activities at discounted prices
- make use of Association services (such as equipment and advocacy).
