Relatives, friends, colleagues and supporters of the Elaine Hosking
Commemorative Tapestry project met on 12 April 2002 in the South West TAFE
Library for a celebratory afternoon tea to mark the completion of the project.

From the Director

Elaine Hosking was a dedicated employee of the Institute until her untimely passing in 1993.

Elaine commenced with the Institute in 1979 as Head Librarian.

I fondly remember Elaine's passion for the Institute and for 'her' library – a library that was always alive and buzzing with causes and interesting people. Elaine was a very special person simultaneously leading people and encouraging others to lead; sympathising with people and driving people; supporting causes and criticising bureaucracies.

Elaine lived a rich and full life that has been captured wonderfully in these magnificent tapestries.

On behalf of the Institute and Council, I would like to thank the weavers and their supporter team for their tireless efforts in completing a very worthy memorial of Elaine. I am sure everyone who views the tapestries will come to appreciate the impact that Elaine has had on our lives.

Barrie Baker
Director, South West TAFE
