Course Description
The Certificate I General Education for Adults (Introductory)
is designed for people who have specific learning needs and
who wish to improve their literacy, numeracy, community
participation and access skills, and communication. Personal
development and growth is also at the core of the program.
The course is primarily aimed at students who have special
learning needs and/or learning difficulties and who want to
make a successful transition into further training. Students who
have Futures for Young Adults funding are most welcome to
apply.
Classes are small , friendly and fun and use applied learning and
project based activities to develop skills and abilities.

Career Opportunities
Students who successfully complete the course are better
equipped to undertake further career related training. Lifeskills,
community access and supported employment opportunities can
be explored as part of the student’s pathways plan.

Course Length
A range of options may be available to suit the needs of the
student. The course will be offered over 2 years part time. It is
planned to deliver the course over 2-3 full days in 2010( subject to
numbers and funding).

Entry Requirements
Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age (although 18
years old and above is preferred), and be willing to participate in
an adult learning environment. Applicants will attend an interview
to determine suitability for the course.

Work Placement
Is not required as part of the course, but can be arranged if seen as
appropriate.
