Course Description
Beautiful nails require skill and artistry. In this course you will learn the art of becoming a nail technician. This is a real hands-on course - you will learn to perform manicures, pedicures, both acrylic and gel nail enhancements and a range of other skills. Along with these practical skills you will also learn the science of nails, and the vital communication and retail skills needed for a career as a nail technician.

This course leads to work in beauty salons, hairdressing salons that offer nail services and specialist nail salons.

Course Length
This course runs for 2 terms (20 weeks) Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am -5 pm.

Entry Requirements
You must have sufficient literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to enable you to successfully complete the course.

Work Placement
All qualifications have work compulsory work placements conditions. Organisation of work placement is a pre requisite to acceptance into these courses. This is the responsibility of the student and should be organised prior to starting any course.

Course Costs
$1799.00 per participant. This cost includes all enrolment fees, materials, kit, learner guides and texts.

Credits/Exemptions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-accredited training and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning or competency outcomes. RPL is sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).
You can undertake a recognition assessment for individual units in most courses offered through South West TAFE. The process requires you to be able to provide evidence of competence.
