Course Description
The Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management is designed to provide participants with skills in conservation and natural resource management for industry sectors such as conservation earthworks; indigenous land management; lands, parks and wildlife; natural area restoration and management; vertebrate pest management; weed management and general land management.

This course is appropriate for a person working or seeking employment as a Technician and Catchment Officer, Marine Park Ranger, Research Technical Officer, Cultural Officer, Community/Water Watch Facilitator, Wildlife Officer, Seed Collector, Pest Animal Control Crew.

The course is self-paced and conducted in an off-campus (distance education) mode.

Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in this field, combined with practical experience, knowledge of the course and ambition to be involved in conservation and environmental work.

Application Process
To apply for this course the applicant will be required to complete a Course Application Form. The forms are available from the Course Coordinator or our Customer Service Centre (03) 5564 8911. Alternatively you can download the form from our internet: www.swtafe.vic.edu.au. Contact the Course Coordinator for the closing date for this course. Any applications received after this date will be classified as late applications and will only be considered if vacancies still exist or become available at a later date.

Off Campus Enrolment
Off-campus enrolments can be completed at the Off-Campus Centre in Warrnambool, or at the Customer Service Centres located at the Hamilton, Portland or Glenormiston Campus of South West TAFE. It is recommended that students enrol in just one or two units on initial enrolment. Further units can be added to enrolments during the year.

Credits/Exemptions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-accredited training and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning or competency outcomes. RPL is sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).
You can undertake a recognition assessment for individual units in most courses offered through South West TAFE. The process requires you to be able to provide evidence of competence.
