Course Description
This course provides training in a range of spa and body treatments, general beauty services and contributing toward an innovative, customer focused business.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may pursue careers in a resort, salon, day spa, own business, cruise ship, medispa or education.

February and July 2010
Course Length
This course is delivered full-time, Monday - Thursday from 9am - 5pm, for 18 months.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must participate in an information session with the course co-ordinator prior to commencement. Preferred entry age is 17 with mature students welcome. Completion of Year 10 is preferred.
Work Placement
Organisation of compulsory work placement is a prerequisite to acceptance into these courses. This is the responsibility of the student.
Eligibilty and Exemptions to Receive a Government Subsidised Place
To receive a government subsidised place, students who enrol in Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses are subject to meeting eligibility criteria such as age and prior educational history. If applicants do not meet the eligibility criteria then they may still apply for the course, but they will not be entitled to a government subsidised place and will be charged a commercial fee. There will be some exceptional circumstances where applicants will be exempt from meeting the eligibility criteria. Please contact the Customer Service Centre on (03) 5564 8911 for more information with regards to eligibility.

Application Process
To apply for this course the applicant will be required to complete a Course Application Form. These forms are available from the Course Coordinator or our Customer Service Centre (03) 5564 8911. Alternatively you can download the form using the Application button at the top of this brochure. Contact the Course Coordinator for the closing date for this course. Any applications received after this date will be classified as late applications and will only be considered if vacancies still exist or become available at a later date.

Credits/Exemptions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-accredited training and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning or competency outcomes. RPL is sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competence (RCC). You can undertake a recognition assessment for individual units in most courses offered through South West TAFE. The process requires you to be able to provide evidence of competence.
