Course Description
Students will develop the skills and knowledge to be employed as a beauty practitioner in a salon with limited supervision, ensuring a safe working environment, providing treatments including manicures, pedicures, nail enhancements and waxing. The course also covers product selling and merchandising and housekeeping duties.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may gain entry level positions in the beauty industry in salons, spas or pharmacies.

February and July 2010.
Course Length
This course runs for six months, full-time Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am -5 pm.
Entry Requirements
Students will be required to participate in an information session with the course trainer prior to commencement. Preferred entry age is 17 with mature students welcome. Completion of Year 10 is preferred.
Work Placement
All qualifications have work compulsory work placements conditions. Organisation of work placement is a pre requisite to acceptance into these courses. This is the responsibility of the student and should be organised prior to starting any course.
Course Costs
$5,500 (fees inclusive of uniform, books/resources and therapist kit.) A fee payment plan is available. For information on enrolment procedures and fees policy, contact the Course Coordinator on the number listed below.

Credits/Exemptions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-accredited training and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning or competency outcomes. RPL is sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).

You can undertake a recognition assessment for individual units in most courses offered through South West TAFE. The process requires you to be able to provide evidence of competence.
