Course Description
This pre-apprenticeship course allows graduates to work under supervision to provide assistance to other qualified hairdressers. Functions at this level include performing a limited range of hairdressing tasks, customer interaction and service, following work place safety procedures, demonstrating effective hairdressing environment work practices, providing assistance to colleagues and developing hairdressing industry knowledge.

Course Length
This course is conducted Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 4.30pm for 10 weeks.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must have successfully completed year 10 maths and english or equivalent.

Work Placement
Work placement is a requirement and where possible we will find suitable placement however additional work placement will need to be found by students during term breaks.

Credits/Exemptions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-accredited training and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning or competency outcomes. RPL is sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).
You can undertake a recognition assessment for individual units in most courses offered through South West TAFE. The process requires you to be able to provide evidence of competence.
