Course Description
The Certificate III in Financial Services (Accounts/Clerical) is designed to reflect the role of entry-level employees who perform routine duties such as: Accounts payable/accounts receivable, Payroll, Cashier, Preparation of trial balance, Bookkeeping, EFT/e-business, Purchases and Sales, Manual and computerised systems and Preparation of financial reports.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may seek bookkeeping positions in areas such as small business, including accounts receivable or accounts payable officers.
Course Length
The course is self-paced and conducted in an off-campus (distance education) mode.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal academic requirements for this course. Students seeking entry who have no formal qualifications will be required to demonstrate that they have the underpinning knowledge and skills to study at this level.
Pathways
On completion of the course students will have skills in a wide range of accounting/administration areas. The course provides articulation into further accounting/business related studies or cross credits into other business courses.

Applicants wishing to study this course may apply directly to the Institute. Students will be required to demonstrate that they have the underpinning knowledge and skills to study at this level.

Off-campus enrolments can be completed at the Off-Campus Centre in Warrnambool, or at the Customer Service Centres located at the Hamilton, Portland or Glenormiston Campus of South West TAFE. It is recommended that students enrol in just one or two units on initial enrolment. Further units can be added to enrolments during the year.

Credits/Exemptions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-accredited training and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning or competency outcomes. RPL is sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competence (RCC). You can undertake a recognition assessment for individual units in most courses offered through South West TAFE. The process requires you to be able to provide evidence of competence.
