Course Description
This course will be offered to professionals in the early childhood field with an existing Diploma of Children’s Services (or equivalent) who are seeking to operate at an advanced skill level to; provide specialist services, act as a resource to other workers, provide practice supervision of staff including volunteers, work intensively with clients and work with clients with complex needs.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may pursue senior roles in children’s services positions.

This course is delivered online over 18 months
Entry Requirements
Applicants must hold an existing Diploma of Children’s Services (or equivalent). Applicants must also undergo a Police Record Check and a Working with Children Check.
Work Placement
It is anticipated applicants will be working in the children’s services industry and therefore not require field placement.
Eligibilty and Exemptions to Receive a Government Subsidised Place
To receive a government subsidised place, students who enrol in Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses are subject to meeting eligibility criteria such as age and prior educational history. If applicants do not meet the eligibility criteria then they may still apply for the course, but they will not be entitled to a government subsidised place and will be charged a commercial fee. There will be some exceptional circumstances where applicants will be exempt from meeting the eligibility criteria. Please contact the Customer Service Centre on (03) 5564 8911 for more information with regards to eligibility.

Application Process
To apply for this course the applicant will be required to complete a Course Application Form. These forms are available from the Course Coordinator or our Customer Service Centre (03) 5564 8911. Alternatively you can download the form using the Application button at the top of this brochure. Contact the Course Coordinator for the closing date for this course. Any applications received after this date will be classified as late applications and will only be considered if vacancies still exist or become available at a later date.

Credits/Exemptions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-accredited training and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning or competency outcomes. RPL is sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).

You can undertake a recognition assessment for individual units in most courses offered through South West TAFE. The process requires you to be able to provide evidence of competence.
