Course Description
This course is for people who have special needs and who hope to gain competitive employment. The course will improve participant’s communication, literacy and vocational skills. It will also improve chances of employment.

Career Opportunities
Graduates may pursue careers in a range of industries with experience gained in hospitality, automotive, horticulture and other vocational areas.

Course Length
This course is delivered part time over two years. Methods of assessment include oral questioning, group tasks or assignments, individual assignments or projects, oral/written exercises, preparing action plans, collecting information, practical exercises and practical placement.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age, have special learning needs, have the potential and motivation for employment and have family support for participation in the program.

Application Process
Applicants will be required to attend an interview to assess their motivation to work, ability to relate to others and sufficient maturity to cope with work.

Credits/Exemptions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-accredited training and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning or competency outcomes. RPL is sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).
You can undertake a recognition assessment for individual units in most courses offered through South West TAFE. The process requires you to be able to provide evidence of competence.
