Course Description
This course provides general knowledge, mechanical skills and “hands on” workshop experience in basic automotive functions and vehicle systems.
This course provides a pathway for graduates to undertake further training.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may pursue careers in automotive apprenticeships and traineeships.

Course Length
The course is delivered three days over six months.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must have a high degree of motivation and interest along with appropriate literacy and numeracy skills appropriate to this level. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
Pathways
This course provides a pathway for graduates to undertake further training, particularly an apprenticeship or traineeship. Credits towards an apprenticeship are gained by successfully completing this course.

Credits/Exemptions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-accredited training and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning or competency outcomes. RPL is sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).

You can undertake a recognition assessment for individual units in most courses offered through South West TAFE. The process requires you to be able to provide evidence of competence.
