Course Description
This course caters for individuals interested in a career in the agriculture sector or for those wishing to further develop their skills and knowledge in agricultural business management.

Career Opportunities
Graduates may pursue careers in production in farm ownership, consultancy and management. The retail and service sectors of agriculture provide considerable opportunities in merchandising, consulting, value adding and sales. This course also leads to the Advanced Diploma of Rural Business Management.

Course Length
This course is delivered full-time over 12 months or up to two and a half years part time.
Studying via flexible delivery requires students to be employed within a workplace that supports their training. Documentation will be required from the workplace supervisor for assessment purposes.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must have completed Year 12 or equivalent or a minimum of Certificate III in Agriculture. Applicants with industry experience are encouraged to apply.

Eligibilty and Exemptions to Receive a Government Subsidised Place
To receive a government subsidised place, students who enrol in Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses are subject to meeting eligibility criteria such as age and prior educational history. If applicants do not meet the eligibility criteria then they may still apply for the course, but they will not be entitled to a government subsidised place and will be charged a commercial fee. There will be some exceptional circumstances where applicants will be exempt from meeting the eligibility criteria. Please contact the Customer Service Centre on (03) 5564 8911 for more information with regards to eligibility.

Application Process
To apply for this course the applicant will be required to complete a Course Application Form. These forms are available from the Course Coordinator or our Customer Service Centre (03) 5564 8911. Alternatively you can download the form using the Application button at the top of this brochure. Contact the Course Coordinator for the closing date for this course. Any applications received after this date will be classified as late applications and will only be considered if vacancies still exist or become available at a later date.

Credits/Exemptions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-accredited training and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning or competency outcomes. RPL is sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).
You can undertake a recognition assessment for individual units in most courses offered through South West TAFE. The process requires you to be able to provide evidence of competence.
