Engineering and Electrical Training

If you have ever considered working in the electrical industry then a Certificate I in Electrotechnology (pre-apprenticeship) is the course to kick-start your career. This course offers entry level training so you can pursue an apprenticeship in the electrical industry. It includes components, accessories and materials for electrical work, use of equipment and technologies, client interaction, electrical concepts and carrying out routine work tasks.

Employers seek out pre-apprenticeship graduates because they know these people are job-ready and will have fewer training modules to complete during their apprenticeship.

We also offer several short courses catering for ACMA registration, electrical appliances testing, disconnecting/ reconnecting workers licence, optical fibre cabling, category 5E structured cabling and the registered electrical contractor’s commercial component.

South West Institute of TAFE’s engineering training includes apprenticeship, traineeship and post-trade qualifications in mechanical and fabrication engineering. These courses are offered in three locations at Warrnambool, Hamilton and Portland.

We are proud to boast an industry specific Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Engineering Centre at the Portland Campus, combining the latest technology and training in CNC machining. We are continually upgrading and improving our facilities to keep abreast of business and industry developments.

In keeping with our Institute’s training philosophy, all teaching staff are experts in their field and committed to forging links within the industry to maximise your chances of employment success.
