How do I apply
As of 29 June 2009, South West TAFE is an approved VET FEE-HELP provider.
It is important to note that although approved, the Institute is still within its disallowance period. However due to legislative amendment, students are able to access VET FEE-HELP through us.
If our VET FEE-HELP Provider status becomes subject to disallowance by Parliament, students will be unable to access VET FEE-HELP for the remainder of the course in which they are enrolled. They will only incur a VET FEE-HELP debt for units with a census date prior to any disallowance motions being passed.
How do I apply?
You can apply for VET FEE-HELP assistance by complete a “Request for VET FEE-HELP Assistance” form available from Reception or contact the Customer Service Centre on (03) 5564 8911 or email info@swtafe.vic.edu.au.When is the closing date for requesting VET FEE-HELP assistance?
If you are seeking VET FEE-HELP assistance, you must have completed, signed and submitted your “Request for VET FEE-HELP Assistance Form” to our Customer Service Centre by the nominated Census Date for the VET unit of study in which you are enrolling. If you do not submit a “Request for VET FEE-HELP Assistance Form” by the nominated date/time, you will be invoiced tuition fees as a full fee-paying student.
What is the Census Date?
The census date is the last day you can withdraw from a VET unit of study without incurring any financial or academic penalty for that VET Unit of study being undertaken. The census date is usually set at 20% of the study period (it cannot be any less than 20%) and is published in advance. The census date for VET Units of Study being offered by South West TAFE between 1 July 2009 and 31 December 2009.What happens if I withdraw or I do not complete my studies?
If you have completed and submitted a “Request for VET FEE-HELP Assistance Form” and then withdraw before the census date, you will not incur a VET FEE-HELP debt for that unit/s. If you do not formally withdrawn from the VET Unit of study on or before the census date and you have made an application for VET FEE-HELP, you will incur a debt with the Commonwealth for the unpaid portion of your tuition fee.Non-completion of studies does not normally entitle you to a refund. However if you believe you have experienced special circumstances that have restricted your ability to continue or complete study, then you can make application to the Institute for your debt to be re-credited through special consideration.
